Racetrack Playa – Death Valley National Park CA

The Racetrack Playa at Death Valley National Park (DVNP) is an amazing place to see. I try to go there every time I’m in Death Valley.

There are two ways to get to the Playa.
One is by taking Saline Valley Road just before getting to Panamint Springs. This involves traversing a moderately difficult off-road trail. The most difficult section is getting over the Lippincott Pass; This requires a high clearance 4WD vehicle and a driver with some experience.
The second way of getting to the Playa is by taking a 27mile long washboard (rough at times) road from the Ubehebe Crater in DNVP. This will lead you past Teak Kettle Junction. The Playa is another 6 miles from Teakettle Junction.

However you get there, I am sure you will enjoy the unfathomable vastness and solitude you will encounter out there.

Have fun,
leon
