New Telescope Installed

The new telescope has arrived and I was able to install it in the Observatory last night.
It’s a Celestron C14 Schmidt Cassegrain mounted atop my Paramount GT-1100 german equatorial mount. I decided to get a large instrument to use for visual observing in the summer months and this seemed like the best balance between size, cost, and more importantly weight :-)
I wanted to be able to lift and install the scope by myself.

My initial impressions of the views through it are WOW. More to come.

Horseshoe Bend

An amazing site of one of the most famous twists in the Colorado River. This happens to be in Page Arizona.
I don’t think any photo can do justice to how amazing this looks in person :-)

This particular photo was taken with a 4×5 film camera using a 65mm lens (equivalent to 17mm in 35mm camera terms)
